Hello Leah, no, its not a trick question. The "change" response does contain the data has been changed but there's no field indicating such a change has happenend. If they send the original order with a quantity of 5 and have it decreased by one by an ORDCHG, the "change" order response IDoc will reflect this (qty=4) however there's no way of telling that the quantity did indeed change so yeah the questions is really how to tell one type of order response from another. I'm not familiar with X12 but I believe they have a separate transaction for this: 865.
I know this is more of an ERP sort of question however over here I'm pretty much on my own so EDI, for me, does include the ERP part as well.
