SUMMARY:
The Biological Sciences Department at Colorado Mesa University invites
applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position in Zoology
beginning August, 2019.  The successful applicant will join a dynamic
department that includes field, cellular, molecular and organismal
biologists, focused on excellence in undergraduate teaching and mentorship
of undergraduate research. Preference will be given to applicants with
research interests in an area of animal biology that are complementary to
the strengths already present in the department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include teaching 12 credits/semester, offering research
opportunities to undergraduate students, advising, and service to the
department and university.  Teaching responsibilities will include
introductory courses in biology and zoology for majors and non-majors.
Upper-division courses will include courses related to the candidate’s
specialty that complement the existing curriculum. Other duties may be
assigned

The standard teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester; some assigned
courses may be taught on-line, hybrid, or via distance delivery modalities.
Scholarship in the discipline, involvement with advising and service to the
department and profession are expected.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform
each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily.  The requirements
listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability
required.

REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
    Required Degree.  A Ph.D. in Biology or a related field from an
accredited institution is required.
    ABD candidates considered if the doctorate expected to be completed by
August 15, 2019.
    Some Teaching Experience preferred.
    Preference will be given to candidates with experience in undergraduate
teaching and mentorship in addition to postdoctoral training.

underrepresented students within higher education.
