The University of Cambridge is offering 12 3.5 year NERC-funded studentships
starting in October 2019 as part of its Climate, Life, Earth, Atmospheric and
Climate Doctoral Training Partnership. A wide range of projects are available
across eight world-class departments and the British Antarctic Survey.

The full list of studentships in biology and conservation is available here:
https://nercdtp.esc.cam.ac.uk/programme/biology-and-conservation

The full list of studentships in climate change and environmental processes is
available here:

Staff are also happy to devise a project with you if you have shared research
interests.

My group in the Department of Plant Sciences (learn more about us here:
www.ecosystemchange.com) is specifically offering three projects addressing the:
* biogeochemistry of thermokarst ponds

*** Eligibility and Funding ***
UK and EU students who meet the UK residency requirements will be eligible for
a full Natural Environmental Research Council (NERC) studentship. A full
studentship will cover the cost of all fees and the student will receive the
standard NERC maintenance allowance (£14,777 pa for 2018/19).

Students from EU countries who do not meet the residency requirements may still
be eligible for a fees-only award, and can apply for maintenance feeds funded
by the various Cambridge Trusts. Overseas students may similarly be able to
join the programme but would need other sources of funding. Further funding
details are available here:
https://nercdtp.esc.cam.ac.uk/prospective-students/funding-information-0

*** How to Apply ***
Interested applicants should contact the lead supervisor in the first instance.
Contact details for supervisors are available on associated project webpages.

The deadline for applications to the NERC Doctoral Training Partnership is
Thursday 3rd January 2019. All supporting documentation including references
must be submitted by this date. Full details of the application process are
available at: https://nercdtp.esc.cam.ac.uk/prospective-students/how-apply
