Dear colleagues,
We are preparing a special issue of the journal Freshwater Science ( https://freshwater-science.org/publications/freshwater-science-issues), that will focus on tropical lake ecosystems. This issue will include manuscripts covering various limnological and ecological studies on tropical lakes from around the world. We would like to invite you to consider joining us in this project by submitting a manuscript to this special issue. Studies in tropical lakes have provided valuable information for advancing our understanding of limnology and lake ecology in general. We propose a special issue that builds on this long research tradition, provides a view of ongoing research around the tropics, and serves as a reference for the state of research on tropical lakes. Potential manuscripts must address a solid ecological or limnological questions and will be reviewed through the strict procedures of the journal. Purely descriptive manuscripts have a low publication probability. We encourage authors to check recent issues of the journal to have an idea of the type and quality of work published ( https://www.journals.uchicago.edu/journals/fws/about). Freshwater Science is a publication of the Society for Freshwater Science, and it is a solid journal published since 1982, currently ranked #20 out of 106 in Marine & Freshwater Biology and with a JCR Impact Factor of 2.489. Current publication costs in Freshwater Science are US$30.00 per page for the first 13 pages, and $50/page for every page thereafter. The society might have support to aid with publication costs in some cases. Proposed schedule - Special issues usually take a whole year to become published papers. Time line: · Manuscript submission: June 30, 2019. · Referee assignment: July 30, 2019. · Review by referees: October 30, 2019. · Response and corrections by authors: February 28, 2020. · Editorial process: April 30, 2020. · Target publication date: June 2020. Interested authors should contact us with title and a brief description of their potential manuscript by December 15, 2018.
