Postdoctoral Research Position: Sustainable microbial biocontrol of brown
rot blossom blight in almond

(new position)

The primary objectives of this position are 1) discovery of novel potential
biocontrol candidates against brown rot blossom blight in almond and 2)
testing the same for honey bee safety and effects on pollination behavior.
The successful applicant will be hosted in the Vannette Lab at UC Davis.


The applicant must hold a PhD or equivalent in Plant Pathology, Entomology,
Microbiology, Ecology and Evolution, or a related discipline. A strong
background in microbial culture techniques is mandatory. Background in honey
bee biology, rearing, and behavior is desirable. Successful applicants will
be self-motivated, detail-oriented and possess excellent oral and
communication skills, with a strong record of peer-reviewed publications.

 
Responsibilities will include the design and execution of experiments, data
analysis, manuscript and proposal preparation, presentation of results,
working with collaborators including Elina NiƱo, Florent Trouillas, and
Robert Schaeffer as well as other in Entomology, Ecology and Evolution and
Plant Pathology at the University of California Davis. Must be available for
research-related travel and be flexible with work hours, particularly during
almond bloom.
