The Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District (Midpen)
<https://www.openspace.org/visit-a-preserve>is pleased to announce the
opportunity to provide biological technical literature review and
writing services in support of the Natural Resources Department.
Midpen is a public agency created in 1972 that protects and manages over
63,000 acres of diverse open space land and manages 26 open space
preserves (OSP) for low-intensity recreational use by the public. The
District is located along the western edge of the North American
continent on a geologically active peninsula between the Pacific Ocean
and San Francisco Bay, which limits migration of plants and animals.
Midpen wishes to receive objective third party recommendations to the
Integrated Pest Management to ensure the least harmful and most
effective tool is used. Midpen wishes to be up to date on the latest
science of the following information, at a minimum, as they relate to
land management with pesticides in forests, natural areas or rangeland:
Human health and safety
Water quality
Soil health
Wildlife health
Drift, and effect on non-target species
Biodiversity
Efficacy and effectiveness
The reviewed research should be holistic and balanced in nature, while
taking the weight of science and the academic journal’s prestige and
ranking into account.
