Southeastern Louisiana University Assistant Professor, Department of Biological Sciences
Southeastern Louisiana University invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Integrative Biology to begin in August 2019. Candidates must have a PhD in a relevant area of the biological sciences and a record of scholarly accomplishments. Postdoctoral experience is preferred. We are particularly interested in applicants with expertise in plant biology, marine biology, ornithology, or mammalogy, but other areas that complement and extend existing faculty strengths will also be considered. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain a research program appropriate in a department with both an undergraduate and a masters level degree program. He/she will also be expected to contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching in areas of their expertise. Southeastern Louisiana University is primarily a teaching institution whose mission is successful education of undergraduate and graduate students. The Department of Biological Sciences has more than 800 undergraduate majors in five concentrations. The Department is housed in a modern building with excellent research and teaching laboratories as well as other research facilities, including a roof-top greenhouse, a Vertebrate Museum, access to LONI for high-performance cluster computing, an Electron Microscopy Center, a vivarium, and the Turtle Cove Environmental Research Station. The Department has approximately 25 graduate students in the MS degree program. The University and Turtle Cove are positioned in an ecologically diverse region with ample opportunities for research in terrestrial, freshwater, or estuarine habitats.
