Analysis of tree regeneration with empirical data and modelling PhD student position (100%)
The Forest Ecology Group at ETH Zurich seeks to appoint a PhD student to analyze and assess tree regeneration data with three main objectives: (1) to quantify recruitment rates of a wide range of European tree species by fusing heterogeneous data sets; (2) to evaluate the nature and extent of species-specific recruitment limitation along an extended environmental gradient in Europe using a model of long-term forest dynamics; and (3) to explore the implications of shifting recruitment patterns for forest dynamics under global climate change.
