Postdoc positions in ecology at NIBIO, Norway NIBIO Department for landscape and biodiversity is searching for two postdoctoral researchers to study different aspects of human land-use on ecological communities, ecosystems and biodiversity.
One postdoc will study effects of agricultural land-use on biodiversity using modelling to describe spatial and temporal patterns in the occurrence and abundance of species, interactions with the environment and [interactions] among species. The postdoc project is planned to focus on farmland birds but experience from bird research is not a prerequisite and other research activity can also be possible within the project, based on the candidate’s research interests and background. The research activities will be conducted in cooperation with the Centre for Biodiversity Dynamics (CBD), which is located at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim. The project will also involve collaborate with other institutions, particularly related to data access and use of citizen science data. The full announcement can be found at: http://bit.ly/postdoc_ecology The second postdoc will be engaged in research on effects of roads and other transport infrastructure on species diversity and ecological processes that determine population persistence in the landscape. This postdoc position is part of the new Epic Roads project funded by European road authorities (http://www.cedr.eu) to study how road networks and habitats associated with roads can have positive effects on landscape connectivity and conservation of species diversity and ecosystems. For more information, see: http://bit.ly/postdoc_road_ecology Both positions are for two years with possibility of a one-year extension. The positions are located in Trondheim, Norway, and the deadline for applications is August 15th.
