Dear Colleagues: We encourage you to submit an abstract to our AGU Session:
B038. Insights from the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) Assessments Biodiversity – the essential variety of life forms on Earth – continues to decline in every region of the world, significantly reducing nature’s capacity to contribute to human well-being. Four regional assessments of the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES), completed in 2018 and written by more than 550 experts from over 100 countries, document loss of biodiversity that endangers economies, livelihoods, food and water security, and the quality of life of people everywhere. These reports represent three years of work assessing biodiversity and ecosystem services in the Americas, Asia and the Pacific, Africa, as well as Europe and Central Asia. In this session, we invite submissions from researchers who have worked as part of the IPBES process to show their findings, explain their experiences and offer insights into how the regional assessments and upcoming global assessments can be used to educate the public and influence decision-making. Biogeosciences Science & Society Abstracts are due August 1st. https://fallmeeting.agu.org/2018/abstract-submissions/submissions/ Conveners: Jeannine Cavender-Bares Cliff Duke Brian Klatt View Session Details: https://agu.confex.com/agu/fm18/gateway.cgi Session ID: 53115 Thank you!
