Hello,
I have an analysis to perform that would require data on land use or land cover from each US county, in some kind of spreadsheet format. I'm particularly wanting to know the proportion of land or total land area in each county that is either in agriculture or developed/urban/residential. Does anyone know if such a dataset exists? Alternatively, could anyone help me generate such a dataset? It appears to not be particularly complicated to derive from NLCD raster datasets a new layer with developed/agricultural vs. "natural" land and to calculate the proportion/mean of these on the basis of a county polygon layer. However, I have limited GIS skills, and I am only equipped with open source GIS and computers that seem unable to handle the memory demands of nationwide raster datasets. Thank you for any help you can offer! Brad -- Bradley E.
