Summer Internship with DroneSeed Co Position Title Biological Research Technician
Desired Start Date: June 2018 Desired End Date: September 2018 Schedule: Weekdays and some weekends for ~30 hours per week Rate: Position Location Seattle Area (Ballard headquarters/regional forestlands) Position description The summer intern will be assisting the Biological R&D program at DroneSeed. We are developing various propagation systems for our UAV swarms and need a technician to support experimental work. The intern should be interested in working in a variety of settings on experiments that focus on seed and seedling propagation. The interns work will take place in lab, greenhouse, and field settings as needed for the duration of the summer growing months. The work will entail materials assembly, irrigation management, miscellaneous plant propagation tasks, experimental data collection, and general maintenance of research areas. Additional tasks will include data entry, digital photography, and acquisition/management of project related media. Desired qualifications • Undergraduate level core biology curriculum completed • Good understanding of plant biology and principals of plant propagation • Previous lab or field experience • Familiarity with native tree and shrub species of the PNW • Strong verbal and written communication skills • Basic analytical skills including elementary statistics and data processing • Competent with Microsoft Word and Excel • Familiarity with cloud services like Dropbox or Google Drive for data management • Detail oriented, can work independently, excited about plants!
