Job Description Position: Assistant Professor of Biology (Tenure Track) Department: Biology, School of Sciences The Department of Biology invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Biology (tenure track). This position requires a strong commitment to undergraduate biology education. The ideal candidates should be able to teach the first year sequence of freshman biology (both lecture and labs) along with anatomy and physiology I and II. Also, candidates should be able to complement our existing ecology courses supporting our undergraduate ecology degree. Potential courses desired include: herpetology, ichthyology, mammology, and evolution (when needed). Anticipated Start Date: 5 January 2019. Responsibilities and Duties: Teach 12 hours of undergraduate courses in Biology per semester Teach lecture and/or laboratory courses based on departmental need. These courses could include Biology courses to meet CBU's General Education requirements as well as undergraduate upper level courses. Show evidence of continued professional development Participate in department activities not limited to advising, mentoring undergraduate research, and occasional orientation activities. Job Requirements Requirements: A Ph.D. in Biology or a Ph.D. in a related discipline appropriate for a Biology faculty member. Must have a commitment to excellence in undergraduate education. Experience in undergraduate biology education is strongly preferred. ABD candidates obtaining their Ph.D. by August 2019 strongly encouraged to apply. If degree is not completed by 5 January, 2019, the faculty (if hired) will hold the rank of Instructor until completion of Ph.D. has occurred.
