Aloha, all. The USDA National Wildlife Research Center has an immediate opening for a temporary GS-12 Biologist to design, conduct, and report on a series of studies establishing the conditions for a successful eradication of rats from Wake Atoll, an important seabird breeding site and military airfield. Island rodent eradications are paying some of the most impressive conservation dividends, and NWRC is positioned to become a key player in such actions in the Pacific. The current term is for 13 months, with funding currently available to extend to 18 months; future extensions dependent upon availability of funds. This position will be based at the NWRC Hawaii Field Station in Hilo, Hawaii (>20 miles from the lava!).
Please share the attached announcement broadly (I removed to allow sending to ECOLOG, please contact Shane for the announcement-DCD). I love that the island rodent eradication community is so international in nature…however, because this a US federal job opportunity, it will be limited to US citizens. All the best, and looking forward to hearing from some great candidates, Shane *Shane R.
