This question came to mind as I observed a short bit on osprey hunting trout. There are citations of weak/tired ospreys getting their talons stuck and eventually drowning; is it possible that the arch in the wing assists with driving them upwards post-capturing of prey where the bird has no momentum, wet feathers, and is being driven downward?
