Assistant Professor - Ecological Restoration - Virginia Tech
The School of Plant and Environmental Sciences (SPES) in the College of 
Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) at Virginia Tech seeks candidates to fill 
a 9-month tenure track faculty position in ecological restoration. The 
successful candidate will be expected to develop an extramurally-funded 
research program focusing on the role of plants, soil and water ecology in the 
restoration, conservation and enhancement of ecosystems in built and disturbed 
environments; and to communicate research results by publishing in appropriate 
peer-reviewed journals and through other outlets. The candidate will be 
expected to collaborate on projects with on-campus SPES and other CALS faculty, 
including those located at Agricultural Research and Extension Centers, and 
with faculty in other Virginia Tech colleges and at other U.S. and 
international institutions. The candidate will be expected to teach courses in 
ecological restoration and related subjects as determined by the candidate and 
the SPES Director; and to advise graduate and undergraduate students. The 
candidate will serve on School-, College- and University-level committees as 
appropriate. A Ph.D. in restoration ecology, environmental sciences, 
environmental management, ecology or other closely aligned fields of study; 
excellent oral and written communication skills; a commitment to mentoring, 
diversity, and inclusion are required. Post-doctoral research experience and 
teaching experience in an appropriate scientific field; demonstrable 
experiences or achievements in publishing refereed research manuscripts and 
grantsmanship are desirable. Full position description information and
