PhD scholarship: Addressing Drivers of Dieback in an Endangered Tree
Species, Persoonia Hirsuta (Hairy Geebung)
Hairy Geebung currently exists in small populations scattered around the
Greater Sydney Region. Recovery efforts are threatened by the tendency of
individuals to rapidly die with little warning. This is particularly
concerning for individuals in environments undergoing restoration, and
several stakeholders are looking for management options to ensure their
survival. The aim of this project is to assess environmental factors that
may be linked to dieback, particularly those related to beneficial and
detrimental microbes and to plant nutrition.
