Hi Ecologgers,

I am seeking recommendations for measuring stomatal density in leaves that
have a lot of trichomes. I am measuring leaf traits in a number of tropical
tree species but have had very little luck using the nail polish method on
hairy leaves. The main recommendation I've gotten so far is to shave the
leaves, but I'm wondering if anyone else has dealt with this problem
before, and what other solutions might exist. I am also a bit constrained
by not having access to much lab equipment when I am in the field. Any
suggestions would be most welcome!

Thank you,
Ilana
