The primary duties of this position are to participate in the control of feral animals (e.g. deer, goat, and pig) in the Park. The work includes ungulate fence construction, inspection, repair, and maintenance; various pest control projects at the Summit and Kipahulu districts of Haleakala National Park; and locating, capturing and removing feral animals using various control methods and techniques (e.g. aerial pursuit, firearms, dogs, traps, baits, snares, etc.) *This position requires carrying and using firearms in order to protect oneself from dangerous feral animals (deer, goats, and pigs). *The incumbent of this position will also serve as Resource Project Helicopter Manager who will manage helicopter operations as related to Aerial Capture Eradication and Tagging of Animals (ACETA) Missions, and other pest controlling work. -- David Duffy Ph.D. Professor and Director 戴大偉 (Dài Dàwěi) Pacific Cooperative Studies Unit/Makamakaʻāinana Department of Botany University of Hawaii/*Ke Kulanui o Hawaiʻi* 3190 Maile Way Honolulu Hawaii 96822 USA 1-808-956-8218
