Research Technician Position - University of Arizona, Tucson - soil gas measurement system development
The Meredith Lab at the University of Arizona (UA) in Tucson is hiring a full time Research Technician to work on a funded, collaborative project between UA and Aerodyne Research, Inc (ARI). We seek a motivated individual to assist with the development of a soil gas sampling systemfor high precision trace gas measurements to examine soil microbial communities and their roles in ecosystem processes. The candidate will procure materials, build and test components and equipment, and analyze data for the project. The candidate would be a key member of an interdisciplinary research team that includes scientists and engineers at both UA and ARI. The Research Technician will work in the BIO5 Institute Keating Building on UA campus and will periodically commute to the Biosphere 2 research facility approximately 45 minutes north of Tucson. Key duties and responsibilities of the position include 1) procuring materials; 2) building, testing, and operating laboratory and experimental equipment; and 3) conducting experiments and analyzing results. The successful applicant will have the ability to carefully perform experimental tests and troubleshoot equipment. Knowledge in electrical or mechanical engineering and/or computer science and experience with instrumentation, machining, and/or programming is preferred, but not required. Most important are the ability to work independently and as part of a team and to communicate with individuals from different areas of expertise.
