Location: Kalispell Program Dates: ASAP through August 17, 2018 Living Allowance: $631.50 biweekly AmeriCorps Education Award: $2,907.50 upon completion of the program Wildland Restoration Team (WRT) Leader gains valuable professional and practical experience in the burgeoning field of ecological restoration. The primary focus of the WRT is the identification, treatment, and inventory of invasive plant species throughout our most iconic and endangered landscapes in the Northern Rockies and Plains ecosystems utilizing chemical, mechanical and biological treatment techniques. Upon successful completion of an eight week training period the Team Leader (TL) will be responsible for leading 3 WRT Members through a 3- or 6- month term of service. Primary duties of the TL include serving as primary infield liaison between Regional Staff and Project Partners, ensuring that MCC policies and procedures are followed by all Team Members, and establishing and maintaining positive relationships with Project Partners, Team Members, MCC Staff, youth and volunteers. This position is supervised by the Wildland Restoration Field Coordinator. The TL is an AmeriCorps participant and is entitled to the benefit package offered all AmeriCorps participants. This position should be viewed not as a 9-5 job but as an experience where long hours and extended time away from home, often in adverse environmental and weather conditions, are to be expected.
