Position: The Pruitt Lab (UC Santa Barbara) is seeking an hourly laboratory technician for a 90-day appointment starting February 20th (date somewhat flexible). The technician is expected to assist with a series of experiments on collective decision-making in rock ants. This will involve feeding and caring for ant colonies, and running them through a series of staged house-hunting challenges where the biological market of available housing options will be manipulated. Opportunity to add personalized flourishes to the existing research scheme will be made available, should applicants feel so inspired. The expected hourly wage is $17.93 per hour at 40 hours per week. Applicants with a strong research and academic track record and graduate school aspirations are preferable. Preference will be given to applicants that have completed extensive undergraduate coursework in biology or behavioral sciences. Applicants should e-mail Jonathan Pruitt ([email protected]) with their statement of interest, CV, and contact information for two professional references. Applications are due by February 5th 2018.
