The National Ecological Observatory Network seeks to hire several
seasonal/temporary field technicians (mostly terrestrial ecology) and one
full-time, permanent field ecologist (aquatic ecology) to work out of our
Land O’Lakes, WI office. Full position descriptions and application

Ecological Field Technician

(temporary). These are temporary positions located in Land O’Lakes, WI,
with start dates ranging between early April and June, and end dates
ranging from late August to mid-November. Most of these positions will
address terrestrial ecology in forested ecosystems. Employees typically
work on either plant ecology protocols (diversity, phenology, and
productivity) or animal ecology protocols (small mammals, ticks, and
insects). Some employees will also work with soil sampling protocols. In
addition to terrestrial field ecology roles, a small number of temporary
field technicians periodically will assist with our instrumentation and
aquatics work.




Ecological Field Technician Lead

(temporary). These are temporary positions located in Land O’Lakes WI, with
start dates in early April and end dates in late October or November. These
positions are suitable for graduates with leadership and field ecology
experience. Employees will work on either plant ecology protocols or animal
ecology protocols (including small mammals, ticks, and insects). Some
employees will also work with soil sampling protocols. These technicians
will serve in leadership roles in the absence of full-time staff and may
share in training, data management, and administrative responsibilities.




Field Ecologist – Aquatics

This is a full-time, year round position, located in Land O’Lakes, WI with
a tentative start date in January of 2018.  The employee’s primary roles
will involve ecological sampling of lakes, including chemical sampling
(water, sediments) and biological sampling (plants, algae, invertebrates,
fish). The employee will also assist with maintenance of aquatic field
instrumentation, and will be responsible for training and leading temporary
field technician assistants.
