Position available: PhD Research Assistantship in Plant Community Ecology

The Department of Earth and the Environment (https://earthenvironment.fiu.edu/) 
at Florida International University has a Ph.D. assistantship available for a 
student interested in plant community ecology. The ideal candidate will have 
some experience in vegetation ecology, vegetation-environment relationships, 
and geographic information systems (GIS).  Our research focus is on ecological 
processes involved in vegetation responses to change in hydrologic and fire 
regimes in short- and long-hydroperiod ecosystems in the Florida Everglades. 
The successful applicant will have opportunity to develop research questions 
independently, but within the framework of the overall goals of the project(s). 
Assistantship covers stipend of $23,460 and tuition. To be eligible for the 
position, students must meet FIU graduate admission requirements: 
http://gradschool.fiu.edu/admission-requirements.shtml (select Earth Systems 
Science). The deadline for the graduate (PhD) application for Fall 2018 
admission in the Department of Earth & Environment is Feb 1st, 2018.
