dear colleagues,
A postdoctoral position is available immediately in the Biodiversity
Dynamics research group, at the University of Paris-Sud, France.
The postdoctoral researcher will lead a study on the economic cost of
invasive species.
The postdoc will be hosted at the Laboratoire d’Ecologie, Systématique
et Evolution, a joint research centre of the Centre National de la
Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) and the University of Paris Sud at Orsay,
France. The recent SCIMAGO-Scopus ranking of world research institutes
ranked the CNRS as the best in the world, in terms of research
publications. The UPS was the second highest-ranked French university in
2017, and was ranked 41st at the world level by the Academic Ranking of
World Universities (the ‘Shangai Ranking’). The ESE Lab is a large (over
120 people), multi-disciplinary department whose members conduct
research and teaching in areas including genetics, biomathematics,
ecophysiology, evolution, population biology, systematics and
biodiversity conservation. By all criteria this is a rich intellectual
environment that has consistently received the highest ratings by both
the CNRS and the University in their independent quadrennial evaluations.
Salary will be commensurate with the experience of the candidate. For a
first position after the PhD, the net salary is ~2000€. For senior
researchers applying, the salary will be higher (the duration of the
contract may be reduced in proportion to the salary overrun). Salary is
coupled with social security (health) and other benefits from the French
system. This is a 12 month, full-time position, with possibility to
extend, if you are not tired of great teammates and fine food.
Candidates should have a Ph.D. and a documented experience in ecology or
conservation, if possible in invasion biology.
An experience in environmental economics is not indispensable, but good
synthetic and statistical skills are mandatory. Excellent article
writing skills are also needed.
Interested candidates should send a curriculum vitæ, a brief summary of
research experience and interests, and names of at least two references
to [email protected]
Position mush start asap.
Could you please forward in your networks?
Thanks a lot!
Franck
