significant areas of research or scholarship. They may serve as principal or
co-principal investigators on grants or contracts, manage postdoctoral fellows
and their research projects or supervise graduate or undergraduate student
research. Research Faculty hold full-time, non-tenure track positions. While
they may participate in instructional programs, such as lectures or
demonstrations, they are not assigned regular teaching duties.

The City University of New York's newest facility, the Advanced Science
Research Center (ASRC), boasts the success of the University's rich past, and
the determination to become a national leader in visionary scientific research
in the future. With a focus in the fields of Nanotechnology, Photonics,
Structural Biology, Neuroscience, and Environmental Sciences, the ASRC operates
as a nucleus of a University-wide science enterprise, fostering the development
of an integrated research network that brings together faculty, students, and
post-doctoral fellows from CUNY's colleges across the five boroughs. This
state-of-the-art facility houses a staff of elite scientists and leaders who
seek to break down the walls between disparate but increasingly inter-related
disciplines of applied science. For more information on the ASRC, please visit
asrc.cuny.edu.

Environmental Sensor (NGENS) Laboratory. NGENS is part of a suite of
observation and laboratory facilities dedicated to the study of complex and
emerging environmental problems. It is designed to serve a broad community of
earth and atmospheric scientists, ecologists, biogeochemists, public health
researchers, engineers, and others.

Reporting to the Director of the NGENS Laboratory, the NGENS Facility Manager

modify, and test cutting edge environmental sensors, deploy sensor networks
utilizing a range of stationary and mobile platforms, and develop a mobile
environmental sensing laboratory. The incumbent will also help to catalyze
collaborative research with other scientific foci at the ASRC (nanoscience,
structural biology, neuroscience, and photonics), and will be encouraged to
develop and drive an independent research program related to environmental
sensing technologies and their applications to studying human-dominated
landscapes.

To meet the objectives described above, the NGENS Laboratory will be a state of
the art fabrication facility with cutting-edge sensor development technologies
that will include LiDAR sensors, gas sensors, air quality analyzers,
spectrometers, environmental control chambers, IR imagers, and bio-inspired
nano-sensing systems. It also will be supported by standard development
equipment including machining, 3D printers, CNC machines, workshop and
electrical engineering equipment.
