Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to invite you to two upcoming workshops at AASHE Centers for
Sustainability Across the Curriculum
<http://www.aashe.org/partners/centers-for-sustainability-across-the-curriculum/>.
In partnership with AASHE, these events are designed to accelerate the
infusion of sustainability content into the curriculum by increasing the
availability and accessibility of sustainably focused faculty development
opportunities. The centers’ events are available to all faculty anywhere.

What: 2017 Mississippi Project VII: “Green Curriculum, Green Campus, Green
Community” <http://www.aashe.org/calendar/curriculum-workshop-siue/>
Where: Southern Illinois University Edwardsville – The Center for Spirituality
and Sustainability
When: August 14, 8-5
Registration Deadline: August 9
Contact person: Connie Frey Spurlock, [email protected] <mailto:[email protected]>
Description: The workshop will explore how we can meaningfully integrate the
sustainability – broadly defined – into our classrooms. The workshop will also
introduce the new SIUE Successful Communities Collaborative as a new
sustainability initiative. Though we start by taking a close look at SIUE and
the larger St. Louis region, we invite participants to think glocally. Members
of the campus and local community will facilitate and catalyze a discussion of
a green curriculum and its integration and role in the broader community.
Participants will have opportunities to extend research and teaching horizons
across disciplines and create new networks with fellow colleagues from SIUE and
the region.

What: Sustainability Across the Curriculum Pre-Conference Faculty Workshop
<http://umacs.org/registration/>
Where: Central College, Pella, Iowa
When: Sept. 28-29, 2017
Registration Deadline: September 15
Contact person: Brian Campbell <mailto:[email protected]>
Description: This UMACS <http://umacs.org/conferences/> pre-conference workshop
will give participants the tools to design a new sustainability-focused course,
and/or redesign an existing course, course unit, or assignment. The workshop
will introduce key sustainability concepts, pedagogical approaches (e.g.
integrating service learning & “campus as a living laboratory” projects), and
strategies for transforming departmental or campus curriculum. The workshop
will be led by experienced faculty representing the natural sciences, social
sciences, humanities, arts, and professional programs. Participants will be
paired with discipline-specific mentors to support course and curriculum
development both during and after the event, and to enhance regional
sustainability networks.

Additionally, mark your calendar for tomorrow's webinar "Greening the Heart of
Postsecondary Education
<http://www.aashe.org/calendar/greening-postsecondary-education/>” 3-4 p.m. ET.
Presented by Julie Johnston, Associate Faculty, Royal Roads University, this
webinar will present the rationale for transformative changes at the
postsecondary level: in curriculum, in how we teach and in institutional
behavior. Check-out all upcoming AASHE webinars
<http://www.aashe.org/events-education/webinars/>! AASHE webinars are free for
everyone and video recordings and presentation materials are available for
AASHE members in the webinar archive
<https://hub.aashe.org/browse/types/video/?search=&content_type=video&organizations=20096&country=#resources-panel>
 at any time.

Last but not least, this is a reminder that the deadline to apply for the
recently introduced Mentorship Program is this Friday, August 4! Participants
in this year-long program can expect to expand their professional network,
create new personal relationships, develop or enhance new skills, and gain new
perspectives. Learn more about the responsibilities, eligibility requirements
and benefits <https://goo.gl/x9nyAv>. A single individual may apply to be both
a mentor and a mentee and, if selected, could serve both roles simultaneously.
