Temporary Full-Time , Floodplain Science Resource Technicians (3 openings) at 
Big Rivers and Wetlands Field Station: Jackson, MO, 63755
Duties and Responsibilities
Salary rate $9.87 per hour through June 2017. Acts as work team member during 
floodplain fish population surveys; assists research biologist with surveys of 
lakes, rivers, and ponds by electrofishing and use of seines; assists research 
biologist with water quality sampling and lab sample processing; maintains and 
modifies equipment including data loggers, electrofishing and netting boats; 
assists in aquatic invertebrate sampling and identification; organizes and 
enters data into manageable database files; uses digitizing equipment to 
measure lake area and watershed size. Other duties include establishing 
sampling sites and recording locations using GPS and other mapping techniques; 
sorting, measuring, weighing, cataloging and making taxonomic identifications 
of Mississippi River fishes and their larvae.
Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in 
Fisheries, Biological Sciences, Zoology or closely related subjects, preferred 
but not required. Experience in scientific research or fisheries management 
preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
