Research Associate Position in Disease Ecology
 
The Bozeman Disease Ecology Lab​ (http://bzndiseaselab.org/)​ 
is currently seeking a research associate 
to support multiple projects on the dynamics of infectious diseases and the 
ecology of bats.​The 
research associate will be responsible for acquiring, organizing, and 
processing data for two major 
projects: 1) data on pathogens emerging from wildlife into humans to 
parameterize models of spillover 
(including bat viruses and avian influenza); and 2) data on western bats and 
their habitats to assess 
susceptibility to white-nose syndrome (WNS).​ ​​​
 
The successful candidate will support a team of postdocs, senior research 
personnel, and faculty 
members working on mechanistic models of pathogen spillover and ecological 
niche models for western 
bat species under current and future climate conditions. ​ The full job

duties will include: ​data​ ​
wrangling and organization​; communicating with scientists, agencies, and 
institutions to access 
databases containing information on bat ecology and pathogen spillover; 
​developing data sharing 
agreements as needed; maintaining a database, overseeing quality 
control​, and performing various 
tasks relating to science management and leadership.
 
Required qualifications:
·         Master's degree in ecology, biology, zoology, statistics, 
epidemiology, or a related field​,​ or ​we will 
consider ​someone with a B.S. and multiple years of relevant research 
experience​;
·         previous experience collecting and managing large datasets from 
multiple sources​;
·         experience with databases and R programming​;​
·         basic data analysis and visualization skills
·         demonstrated proficiency in GIS​
·         demonstrated attention to detail
·         experience working with volunteers or overseeing technicians
