I have been working on a Nobel Peace Prize proposal for several years now. It is 'themed' for Sustainable Development, much as the 2007 award to Al Gore and the IPCC was 'themed' for climate change. This year over *150 nominations* for the proposal have been submitted so far, and an additional show of public support that includes about *240 public endorsements*. I am not allowed to list the nominations publicly, in respect of the Nobel Committee's request for confidentiality. But there are some fairly well-known and influential people who have submitted nominations. So this proposal has a real shot. Endorsements are listed First Name, Last Initial for some privacy. But I don't think Archbishop Tutu, David Korten and Sylvia Earle would mind my mentioning their public endorsements.
The website is at *http://NP4SD.org <http://np4sd.org/>*, and the proposal itself is at *http://np4sd.org/proposal <http://np4sd.org/proposal>* and is only a page in length, so is a quick one to read. There are undoubtedly many people on this list qualified to for nominate for the Peace Prize. There are many millions worldwide, most unaware of that status. Here is the link to submit a nomination directly to the Nobel Committee. *http://np4sd.org/nominate-and-endorse/qualified-nomination/ <http://np4sd.org/nominate-and-endorse/qualified-nomination/> *and it literally takes only a minute*.* All *"u**niversity professors, professors emeriti and associate professors of history, social sciences, law, philosophy, theology, and religion" *are qualified to nominate (from the Nobelprize.org website). There are dozens, perhaps hundreds of 'social sciences' including such things as Business Management, Urban Planning, and Sustainability Studies itself, in addition to the classic ones; sociology, psychology, anthropology, social work, political science, economics, etc. *Everyone* is welcome to endorse the proposal at the following link. *http://np4sd.org/nominate-and-endorse/public-endorsements/ <http://np4sd.org/nominate-and-endorse/public-endorsements/>*. It is uncertain how much the Nobel Committee weights endorsements, but having many cannot not hurt. The 'gotcha' is that February 1st is the deadline for nominations for the 2017 prize and I apologize for reaching out so late in the process, but I am just got on this this list today. *So please don't delay!* If you've missed the deadline (this post is going out at the 11th hour) nominate and endorse anyway since they are held over for the 2018 Peace Prize. We are in this for the long run, and it will get more traction as the road gets bumpier in the coming year. And please share this initiative with those you know who would be sympathetic to the goal.
