The Department of Biology at North Central College invites applications for a tenure-track position in plant ecology beginning Fall 2017. Appointment at the rank of assistant professor is likely, but qualified candidates may be considered for a higher rank. Teaching responsibilities include introductory biology, plant physiology, introductory and advanced ecology and the opportunity to develop field courses and further develop the plant aspect of the departmental curriculum. A PhD in botany, ecology or a related field is required; postdoctoral experience is strongly desired. Candidates should have demonstrated potential for excellence in undergraduate teaching and mentoring and commitment to developing an active research program engaging undergraduates in the area of plant ecology with a community to ecosystem focus; interest in establishing local/regional field research is desirable.
