This short-term contractor position will assist in research that involves
the use of genomic and genetic DNA analysis to examine changes in the
genetic diversity of coral reef associated communities in relation to ocean
acidification. Metabarcoding in particular will be employed to sequence
specific genes to investigate whole community diversity of metazoans,
protists, algae and bacteria. The position will also involve participation
in other tasks such as sample preparation for chemical analysis, specimen
photography, photo analysis, specimen curation etc.
The position is laboratory based and the successful candidate is expected to
assist the PI in designing, and will execute molecular experiments.

Location: National Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian Institution,
Washington DC, USA

Responsibilities will include:
- Molecular biology including DNA preparation, DNA barcoding, qPCR, Next
Generation Sequencing (metabarcoding)
- Sequence data analysis (bioinformatics)
- Data management
- Lab organization, maintenance, and purchasing.
-Other tasks as needed such as photo analysis, database management or
specimen curation

Required Qualifications:
- Master's degree in biology or related field
- Experience in a research laboratory working with Next-Generation
Sequencing (preferably Illumina platform)
- Experience with executing molecular biology protocols. 
- Capacity to work both independently and collaboratively. 
- Strong attention to detail and meticulous lab notebook keeping.
