Dear Colleagues, We have organized a session in this year's AGU Fall Meeting (12-16 Dec, 2016) titled "Chlorophyll fluorescence as a proxy of photosynthesis: from field to satellite measurements, modeling and applications". We welcome your contributions to our session. Please see below for the detailed session description. So far we have the following committed speakers, including Prof. Dr. Uwe Rascher (one of the ESA FLEX program chief scientists), Prof. Christian Frankenberg (NASA OCO-2 Fluorescence Leader), and Prof. Joe Berry (one of the SIF pioneer scientists). Please note the deadline for abstract submission is Aug 3, 2016.

Advances have been made recently in the retrieval of solar-induced chlorophyll fluorescence (SIF) on field, airborne, space-borne platforms. This provides a unique way to measure photosynthesis and improve the quantification of carbon cycles at landscape , ecosystem, and global scales. This session focuses on measurements, modeling, and applications of passive SIF in carbon cycle science at a range of temporal and spatial scales. We encourage contributions that advance the observing and monitoring technologies of SIF at field , airborne and satellite platforms, and welcome studies on the empirical and theoretical modeling of vegetation photosynthesis with SIF at multiple scales. *Primary Convener: * *Kaiyu Guan*, University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign , Urbana, IL, United States *Conveners: * *Yongguang Zhang*, Nanjing University, Nanjing, China, *Joanna Joiner*, NASA Goddard SFC, Greenbelt, MD, United States and *Xi Yang*, Brown University, Providence, RI, United States Xi Yang, on behalf of Kaiyu Guan, Yongguang Zhang, and Joanna Joiner ------ Xi Yang, Ph.D. Postdoctoral research associate, Lee Lab Department of Earth, Environmental and Planetary Sciences Brown University [email protected] 517-515-2110 http://xi-yang.net -- Xi Yang, Ph.D .
