*Chief Conservation Officer* Rainforest Trust seeks an experienced international conservationist to oversee the conservation staff and a portfolio of $10+ million a year towards the creation of new protected areas. Rainforest Trust is a 501c3 non-profit organization founded in 1988 that supports the protection of critical habitat for endangered species in partnership with local organizations. To date, we have saved over 12 million tropical forest acres. The successful candidate will work under the Chief Operating Officer.
*Duties Include:* · Responsible for the supervision and management of an experienced conservation team with an extensive portfolio of projects. · Collaborate and coordinate actively with the Executive team and the Advisory Council on prospective new partners and projects. · Oversee the implementation of an automated online proposal and reporting system. · Work with the Executive team to identify goals and priorities. · Review, implement and update the conservation strategy plan. · Supervise, recruit, train and evaluate qualified personnel for the conservation team. · Coordinate and implement clear documentation and record keeping for department. · Support the Executive team by providing regular project updates. · Participate actively in fundraising efforts. *Qualifications:* Extensive experience with protected area establishment in the tropics for Endangered species, plus a personal passion for conservation and wildlife is essential. Other requirements: · Ph.D. in conservation biology or related field required. · Proven involvement with a wide range of organizations and stakeholders in the tropics. · Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. · Fluency or proficiency in Spanish. · Efficient, self-starting, and excellent organizational skills. · Ability and willingness to travel internationally. · Must be authorized to work in the US.
