Sam Houston State is developing some coastal marine ecology projects to better understand the impacts land and water management have on coastal ecological communities. One of our most important sampling sites is Powderhorn Lake, where changes in land management are predicted to alter water chemistry, hydrology, and land use by humans. We are working diligently to gather baseline data before large-scale changes occur, and are looking for motivate volunteers to help out with monthly surveys of fish and sharks in the lake.
