*Ph.D. student opportunity - University of Virginia*

We are seeking a Ph.D. student for a recently funded NSF project that
examines how changes in acid deposition have affected forest water use
efficiency in the eastern United States. Watersheds in Virginia, West
Virginia, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine will serve as field sites for
this project. Ph.D. student activities will include tree coring, carbon
isotopic analysis, catchment biogeochemical modeling, and analysis of
stream discharge time series.

The Department of Environmental Sciences at the University of Virginia (
http://www.evsc.virginia.edu) will serve as the home institution for the
Ph.D. student, to be co-advised by Profs. Todd Scanlon and Howard Epstein.
This collaborative research project includes scientists at the University
of New Hampshire, Rider University, and IUPUI. The Ph.D. student will work
with, and receive training from, all members of the project team. Financial
aid from the University of Virginia will cover tuition and healthcare, and
the Ph.D. student will receive a competitive stipend. The start date for
this position is either August 2016 or January 2017.

Please contact Todd Scanlon (tms2v@virginia) if you are interested in this
position and would like additional information.
