Hello.

I’m looking for recommendations for a software program that can analyze
pictures of animals (turtle plastrons in my case) and find any matching
individuals within the photo database. I have a large database of turtle
plastrons that are from a number of different locations over a period of
10+ years and I want to see if any of these turtles moved between study
sites.

Does anyone have any individual recognition software recommendations? I
have tried Wild-ID but it was unsuccessful at accurately matching
turtles. Each turtle’s plastron has uniquely shaped black spots (the
spots are, for the most part, always in the same location on all the
turtles but the shapes of the spots are unique) and unique scute seams
(seams/lines between each scute on the plastron).

Please contact me at one of the email addresses below if you know of a
software program that might work for me. I have also tried I3S Pattern
and StripeSpotter but because I have hundreds of photos, I would prefer
a program that does not require me to annotate or outline each photo.

Thank you very much!

Emily Allan
