Climate Change Adaptation and Natural Areas Management:
Turning Words to Action

October 18-21, 2016 – UC Davis Conference Center, Davis, California

The 43rd annual conference of the Natural Areas Association, co-hosted 
by the USDA Forest Service and the University of California, Davis will 
feature strategies and tactics that resource and natural areas managers 
can employ to prepare for and respond to climate change on the ground, 
and explores themes such as connecting ecological restoration and 
adaptation, assisted migration, tree planting, prescribed fire and 
wildland fire use, native plant materials, meadow and stream 
restoration, pollinators, and carbon and biomass markets.

The conference includes TWO plenary sessions, featuring some of the 
world’s top applied ecologists and environmental researchers, including: 
James Aronson (Centre d'Ecologie Fonctionnelle et Evolutive), Healy 
Hamilton (NatureServ), Greg Aplet (The Wilderness Society), Don Falk 
(University of Arizona), Richard Hobbs (University of Western 
Australia), Chris Swanston (USFS Northern Research Station), John Wiens 
(Oregon State University and University of Western Australia)

This year, we are increasing the number of symposia and workshops in the 
program to increase collaboration, engagement and hands-on solution 
sharing.

The conference features activities and sessions specifically for 
students, including a speed networking session with resource 
professionals, awards for papers and posters, and scholarships


Space is available for associated workshops and meetings to be held 
before, during, and after the event.
