The Gulf Research Program of the National Academies of Sciences, 
Engineering, and Medicine is accepting applications for its 2016 Early-
Career Research Fellowships and Science Policy Fellowships at 
www.nas.edu/gulf/fellowships. 

The two-year Early-Career Research Fellowships recognize tenure track 
faculty (or equivalent) for exceptional leadership, past performance, and 
potential for future contributions to improving oil system safety, human 
health and well-being, or environmental protection. Fellows’ areas of 
research may include the social and behavioral sciences, health and 
medicine, engineering, earth and life sciences, and relevant 
interdisciplinary fields. 

The one-year Science Policy Fellowships place doctoral students and 
professionals who have received their graduate degrees in the past five 
years with a state environmental, natural resources, oil and gas, or public 
health agency, or in the regional office of a relevant federal agency in the 
Gulf of Mexico region. Fellows’ areas of study may include the social and 
behavioral sciences, health and medicine, engineering, earth and life 
sciences, and relevant interdisciplinary fields.
