Dear all,

This is the first announcement of the SAPFLUXNET initiative, a global database
of sap flow measurements in woody plants. This database will allow new exciting
analyses of the ecological drivers of plant transpiration at the global scale
and it will be first made available to all data contributors and eventually to
the entire scientific community
(<http://sapfluxnet.creaf.cat/>http://sapfluxnet.creaf.cat/).

As a first step, we want to know how much data are potentially available and
how responsive is the sap flow community to our eventual call for data. If you
have measured sap flow during at least one year/growing season, in a field
setting (including orchards, but excluding studies in greenhouses), we would be
grateful if you could fill in this simple metadata form
(<http://sfnform.creaf.cat/app/form/>http://sfnform.creaf.cat/app/form/).
Completing the form should take less than 5 minutes and it would already
provide us with valuable initial information.

The data collection period is projected to begin in early 2016. More details on
the data policy will be available then. If at this stage you are unsure whether
to contribute because you would like to know the precise terms of the data
policy, please specify this in the form (i.e. 'Yes, conditioned on the data
policy terms').

In our efforts to maximise data contribution to the project, you may receive
this information from various sources. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Best regards,

Rafa
