The Biological Sciences Department in the College of Science and Mathematics at 
California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo is seeking a 
full-time, academic year, tenure track Plant Biologist beginning September 
2016.  

Excellent candidates will create synergy in the department with a focus on 
plant ecology and evolution in California; research areas could include the 
origin and derivation of the California flora, speciation and adaptation, 
plant-animal interactions or community dynamics, and the genetics underlying 
ecological and evolutionary processes. Teaching responsibilities will include 
botany, biogeography, ecology, and/or evolution for majors and non-majors, plus 
other undergraduate and graduate courses as department needs arise.  We 
particularly seek candidates who are enthusiastic about teaching lower division 
introductory courses and implementing a student-centered research program. A 
Ph.D. in a relevant field and potential for excellent teaching are required at 
time of hiring. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
