Job Summary:
The University of Southern Mississippi invites applicants for a full-time,
nine-month, tenure-track disease biology position in the Department of
Biological Sciences (usm.edu/biological-sciences) beginning August 15, 2016,
with a preference for someone who is working in pathobiology or infectious
disease ecology.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will join a growing and productive department with
strong research programs in ecology, cellular/molecular and organismal
biology. The successful candidate will be expected to (1) teach courses in
his/her area of expertise and contribute to the teaching of core biology
courses; (2) develop and sustain an active research program that involves
undergraduate and graduate students; (3) obtain external funding to support
an active program of productive research scholarship; and (4) participate in
student advisement and University service activities.

Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants working in any area of disease or pathogen biology will be
considered. Minimum qualifications for the position include an earned
doctoral degree and a strong record of research publication in peer-reviewed
literature. Evidence of proficiency in both teaching and research will be
used as selection criteria.
