Assistant Professor (Tenure Track) 
Plant Ecologist
Department of Biology

Primary Responsibilities 

Teaching responsibilities will include ecology, habitat management, 
other specialty courses, and introductory biology courses for majors and 
non-majors. The successful candidate will be expected to develop new 
courses in plant ecology and/or forestry. Undergraduate advising of 
biology majors will be required.  The successful candidate will be 
expected to develop a research program in population, community, or 
molecular ecology of plants involving undergraduate and graduate 
students.
Required Qualifications

•       Ph.D. or ABD (with Ph.D. by August 2016) in a related field 
(Degree must be from a regionally accredited or internationally 
accredited/government certified university). 
•       Evidence of active research in plant ecology or forestry with 
the potential to engage Southeast students in research activities.
•       Experience teaching at college/university level as a graduate 
assistant, instructor or above.
•       Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, staff, 
and community. 
•       Demonstrated commitment to working with multi-cultural 
populations and awareness of issues affecting women and minorities.
