As the planet's coldest and windiest continent, Antarctica offers unique
opportunities for scientific research: the region’s varied ecosystems hold
secrets to life in extreme environments, ice and sediment cores record
Earth’s climate history, and the dry, stable atmosphere provides optimal
conditions for studying the solar system and the universe beyond.

On Tuesday, the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine
will release a new report that highlights key priorities for the next decade
of Antarctic research. Written with extensive input from researchers across
the country, “A Strategic Vision for NSF Investments in Antarctic and
Southern Ocean Research,” also identifies the infrastructure needed to
reach those goals.

Join a free webinar to discuss the report on Tuesday, August 11,at 1:00 p.m.
EDT. The webinar will feature presentations and a Q&A session with Robin
Bell of Columbia University, co-chair of the report’s authoring committee,
and committee members Rob Dunbar of Stanford University, and John Carlstrom
of the University of Chicago. Please register to attend here:
