Are there standardized metrics for evaluating the performance of state
parks?
I know that's a simple question for a complicated topic, but performance
metrics are new to me. I spend a lot of time at a state park which, from
everything I've seen, is more than usually lax in every aspect of their
operations--from their failure to enforce park regulations to their inability
to attract a dedicated cadre of volunteers, not to mention their abandoned
infrastructure, rotting interpretive displays and appalling lack of basic
wildlife knowledge.
So I'd like to know if there are standard metrics which would facilitate
comparisons between state parks, in terms of public engagement, law enforcement
action, project accountability, and general staff effort and competence.
Please respond to me off-list, with my thanks in advance, and I'll post a
summary of the replies.
