Title: Advances in observing, analyzing and scaling surface-atmosphere exchange for enhancing long-term networks Session ID: 7564 (Biogeosciences) https://agu.confex.com/agu/fm15/preliminaryview.cgi/Session7564 <https://agu.confex.com/agu/fm15/preliminaryview.cgi/Session7564> AmeriFlux, ICOS, NEON and other networks in Asia and Australia are moving in the direction of long-term initiatives to monitor, study and improve our understanding of heat, water, greenhouse gas and pollutant stocks and exchanges. Their scientific value is reflected by the wide data use in synthesis studies and development of earth system models. However, challenges in observation, data and uncertainty analyses, and curation of contextual data remain with applications demanding higher data quality and new datasets that fill current knowledge gaps. This session envisions bringing together engineers, ecosystem and remote sensing experts, data analysts, modelers and data users with a focus on newly emerging techniques for enhancing long-term surface-atmosphere exchange networks. We welcome contributions on the latest measurement, data processing and analysis developments. Especially encouraged are studies that help bridging spatial and temporal scales, and identifying and observing key ecosystem variables. Conveners: Stefan Metzger (NEON, Inc.), Sebastien Biraud (Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory), Ankur R Desai (University of Wisconsin-Madison), and Dario Papale (Tuscia University, Italy) Invited presenters: Almut Arneth (KIT, Germany), Natascha Kljun (Swansea U, UK), Trevor Keenan (Macquarie University, Australia), HaPe Schmid (KIT, Germany), ------------------------------------------------- Ankur R Desai, Associate Professor University of Wisconsin - Madison, Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences http://flux.aos.wisc.edu <http://flux.aos.wisc.edu/> [email protected] <mailto:[email protected]>
