Postdoctoral Research Associate Announcement A postdoctoral position in geospatial data synthesis for sustainable agroecosystems is available in the Department of Crop Sciences at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Posting: http://pittelkow.cropsci.illinois.edu/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/Postdoc.pdf This position will play a key role in developing and leading an interdisciplinary project spanning the fields of ecology, agronomy, biogeochemistry, economics, and the human dimensions of natural resource management. In collaboration with a faculty advisory team, primary responsibilities will include quantifying the relationships between agricultural, ecological, and socioeconomic sustainability indicators in U.S. agricultural systems using geospatial datasets and statistical modeling approaches, developing proposals for external funding, and writing manuscripts for publication. The advisory team anticipates several important and timely outputs from this work and is seeking an interdisciplinary scientist with advanced quantitative skills and an understanding of the biophysical mechanisms underpinning agricultural production-environmental quality tradeoffs. Successful applicants will be highly motivated and self-directed with a PhD in agricultural/environmental sciences or an appropriate discipline, a strong publication record, and expertise in large-scale data synthesis and modeling. Preference will be given to candidates with a background in geospatial data analysis and GIS, computer programming, and statistical modeling who have worked with large and diverse datasets across multiple scales. To apply, please send a CV and cover letter including a brief description of your relevant skills and experience to Cameron Pittelkow ([email protected]). The position will remain open until a qualified candidate is selected.
