A postdoctoral position is available in the Parent Lab at the University of
Idaho.

The postdoctoral fellow will work in collaboration with Dr. Christine Parent on
a
project investigating multilevel dynamics of viral co-infection in fruit flies
(Drosophila
melanogaster). The project is part of the NIH-funded Center for Modeling
Complex
Interactions (CMCI), a collaborative group of researchers and modelers who
apply
innovative approaches to tackle complex biomedical problems.

The postdoctoral researcher will analyze viral growth dynamics using
quantitative
real-time PCR in adult flies infected with one or two viruses (Drosophila C
Virus C and
Drosophila Virus X). The viral growth dynamics will then inform further
experiments to
be conducted by the postdoctoral fellow to examine host gene expression in
uninfected and infected flies. The initial funding period is two years.
