Biology Field Technician Opening: Aquatic Control Technology is currently seeking a qualified individual for a biology field technician position with our company. This position is based out of our Spencer, Massachusetts office. The biology field technician will report to the Biology Manager. Duties/responsibilities will include assisting with vegetation and bathymetric surveys, water quality monitoring, data entry, GIS-based mapping, reporting, and permitting. This work will serve as an integral component to developing, evaluating, and maintaining compliance for numerous integrated management programs focused on controlling nuisance and invasive vegetation in water bodies throughout New England and New York.
Appointment Duration: ASAP to November (with the possibility of extension to permanent, full-time employment) Minimum Requirements: Currently holds/is working towards a BS/BA degree in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science or related field Maintains a valid drivers license with a clean driving record Able to lift 50 pounds Organized and detail-oriented Outgoing, pleasant, and good humored under harsh conditions (e.g., adverse weather, unplanned/extended hours, etc.) Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check Additional (Preferred) Qualifications: Experience operating boat, trucks, and trailers Experience working with ArcGIS and GPS technology Knowledge of local/state/federal wetland permitting Coursework/experience using taxonomic keys Compensation: Starting at $12/hr.
