Students in the lab investigate the forces enabling the maintenance, and
governing the distribution, of biological diversity. Specifically, we seek
to understand how climate, dispersal limitations and biotic interactions
affect historical and contemporary patterns in the distribution of species
and structure of communities. We also study how species respond to rapid
and ongoing climate change, with a particular focus on genetic and
population responses at northern range limits. Finally, we are interested
in the importance of preserving biological diversity in order to insure the
functioning of boreal and subarctic ecosystems.

Concordia is an english-speaking university located in Montreal, Canada.
Montreal is a great place to live and study with 4 different universities
scattered around the city. Our lab is affiliated with the Quebec Center for
Biodiversity Science (www.qcbs.ca) and the Center for Northern Study (
www.cen.ulaval.ca). The Department of Biology hosts a group of researchers
working at the interface of ecology, evolution and conservation, creating
opportunities for inter-disciplinary projects and collaborations. Finally,
but most importantly, our lab is developing several exciting projects
investigating the causes and consequences of insect diversity in a changing
world, and we need more people!

Interested students should send (1) a cover letter, (2) a CV and (3) the
name and contact information of 2-3 references. E-mail all documents to:
